ARCTIC FOX - vulpes lagopus There is something playful about the character of this solitary fox. He disappears and reappears from the drifting snow like a wandering white spirit. The Arctic Fox’s thick fur is believed to be the most effective pelt of all animals. . Their senses are exceptionally sensitive, especially their hearing and smell. Like the Polar Bear, they detect and catch prey underneath the snow and lemmings are their staple food.
